"Big House" 393 Burrows Ave.

How many times do you drive up and down the same street each week and not see the obvious?  There it was, a great big 2600-square-foot house.  It is 2 ½ stories and has six bedrooms and a garage.  And the realtor says he sent us an email about it, but where did it go?!  Then “suddenly” someone else, another servant of Jesus, tells me about this great big house for sale.  Hey, how did we miss that?

After a few phone calls and a look through, three visits to the bank, a lawyer, and there you go – HRS has a big house – 393 Burrows Avenue.  Just that fast, you say?  No, it has been ten years of vision and prayer.

So the next steps are like this.  The house is empty and needs help.  It needs a new roof, yard work, paint inside and out, flooring, dishes, pots, pans, all the furniture, etc. that you could expect to make it a home.  And because it will take some fixing up, inside and out, we are moving three of our Lazarus House men to the house in December.

Then after the house is finished and has some staff in place, it could finally be the “Martha House” for women.  The variables for this are: getting the house repaired, proper furnishings, finances and staff.  We would hope we could have the transition done in a year or so.  It will take a lot of time and resources.

To date (March 09) we have received furniture, dishes, paint, new cabinets and flooring etc. We are having a tree cutting party and yard clean up this spring . There is still a need for volunteers on Saturdays to help with the work. The house has changed alot in 4 months. Still it is costing us a drain on our finances. The job ahead is to get the mortgage down. So we are havoing a big drive to get the principal down to make the house more vialable. Any donations help.

Soon we will have a video put together of the house and the project.  And soon we will have an open house for all to see what we have as a finished project and what it looked like before.  So we will keep you posted and up-to-date on the process.

This is very exciting.  Even the realtor, James Born, was excited and glad for us.
