In the summer of 1996, I injured my right elbow.  It meant that I couldn’t work, nor ride my motorcycle.  So I loaned it to my Pastor.  He really enjoyed it. Maybe too much!

In the 19th century, Soren Kierkegaard told a parable.  It goes something like this:

In the barnyard are fat geese.  They are enjoying food, safety, and security.  Then one day in the fall a flock of wild geese fly overhead.  The barnyard geese start to run through the yard – squawking and flapping their wings, but never going over the fence.

I picked up the following off of a VHS video I saw in 2003. I am not sure who the speaker was. She was sitting on a stool on a stage, dressed in black just sharing her heart. It should make you think about sub-cultures and the need to reach them.

Reality check, reality show, and getting real. People today seem to be obsessed with reality. They really are looking for something real. So we the church send them to Jesus. That’s good and the right advice. But as a church, the representative of Christ, I think we fail to be real.
